Traffic Impacts: Week of Aug. 14 – Aug. 21, 2026

THIS WEEK AT A GLANCE

The NW/NE 48^th Street Bridge over State Road (S.R.) 9/I-95 closed on Sunday night, Aug. 2 in both directions for full reconstruction, and will remain closed through Summer 2027 as part of the Early Construction Works phase of the SW 10^th Street Connector Project.

To help ensure the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists, signed detour routes will be in place throughout the duration of the closure.

• Regional traffic will be directed to the primary state roadway network, including SW 10^th Street, S.R. 845/Powerline Road, S.R. 811/Dixie Highway, and S.R. 834/Sample Road.
• Local traffic will be directed to alternate north-south routes, including Military Trail and NE 3^rd Avenue/FAU Research Park Boulevard.

Advance warning signs and detour signage will be installed throughout the construction limits to help guide travelers safely through the area. Access to homes, businesses, schools, and emergency services will be maintained at all times during construction.

S.R. 9/I-95 TRAFFIC IMPACTS

Southbound S.R. 9/I-95 Full Closure Notice: Southbound S.R. 9/I-95 between just south of SW 10^th Street and S.R. 834/Sample Road will be closed to traffic from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16, and Monday, Aug. 17, for overhead bridge demolition operations. One lane will close at 8 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 9 p.m., reopening by 6 a.m.

Tuesday, Aug. 18 and Wednesday, Aug. 19 will be used as a contingency night if needed.

Detour: Southbound motorists will be detoured via the SW 10^th Street exit ramp, southbound Military Trail, and eastbound S.R. 834/Sample Road to re-enter southbound S.R. 9/I-95. The southbound S.R. 9/I-95 Express Lanes between S.R. 810/Hillsboro Boulevard and S.R. 814/Atlantic Boulevard will also be closed. Motorists may re-enter the Express Lanes by the S.R. 814/Atlantic Boulevard ingress.

In association with this full closure, the following entrance ramps to southbound S.R. 9/I-95 will also be closed:

• Southbound S.R. 9/I-95 entrance ramp from eastbound and westbound S.R. 810/Hillsboro Boulevard.
• Southbound S.R. 9/I-95 entrance ramp from eastbound and westbound SW 10^th Street.
• Motorists seeking to access southbound S.R. 9/I-95 from these locations will be detoured via southbound S.R. 811/N. Dixie Highway and westbound S.R. 834/Sample Road.

To ensure the safety of the traveling public, Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) officers will be on site, and posted detour signage will be in place to guide motorists safely through the designated detour routes.

Northbound S.R. 9/I-95 Full Closure Notice: Northbound S.R. 9/I-95 between just south of S.R. 834/Sample Road and SW 10^th Street will be closed to traffic nightly, from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Thursday, Aug. 20 to perform bridge demolition operations. One lane will close at 8 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 9 p.m., reopening by 6 a.m.

Saturday night, Aug. 22, between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m., and Tuesday night, Aug. 25, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., will be used as contingency nights if needed.

Detour: Northbound motorists will be detoured via the S.R. 834/Sample Road exit ramp, northbound S.R. 811/N. Dixie Highway, and westbound SW 10^th Street to re-enter northbound S.R. 9/I-95. The northbound S.R. 9/I-95 Express Lanes between S.R. 816/Oakland Park Boulevard and S.R. 834/Sample Road will also be closed. Motorists may re-enter the Express Lanes to the north of S.R. 810/Hillsboro Boulevard.

• Northbound S.R. 9/I-95 entrance ramp from eastbound and westbound Copans Road.
• Northbound S.R. 9/I-95 entrance ramp from eastbound and westbound S.R. 834/Sample Road.
• Motorists seeking to access northbound S.R. 9/I-95 from these locations will be detoured via northbound Military Trail and eastbound SW 10th Street.

Express Lanes Closure Notice: The northbound S.R. 9/I-95 Express Lanes between S.R. 816/Oakland Park Boulevard and S.R. 834/Sample Road will be closed to traffic nightly from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through Thursday, Sept. 3, for bridge demolition operations. Motorists will be directed to exit the Express Lanes onto the General-Purpose Lanes at S.R. 816/Oakland Park Boulevard and may re-enter the Express Lanes north of S.R. 810/Hillsboro Boulevard.

Express Lanes Closure Notice: The southbound S.R. 9/I-95 Express Lanes between S.R. 810/Hillsboro Boulevard and S.R. 814/Atlantic Boulevard will be closed to traffic nightly from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, through Thursday, Sept. 3, for bridge demolition operations. Motorists will be directed to exit the Express Lanes onto the General-Purpose Lanes at S.R. 810/Hillsboro Boulevard and may re-enter the Express Lanes by S.R. 814/Atlantic Boulevard.

• Northbound S.R. 9/I-95 will have the two outside general-purpose lanes closed, between north of S.R. 834/Sample Road and SW 10^th Street, from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday, Aug. 9, through Aug. 20, for temporary barrier wall placement and overhead bridge demolition operations.

SW 10th Street & Arterial Traffic Impacts:

• Eastbound SW 10^th Street, to the east of the S.R. 9/I-95 bridge, will have one outside lane closed to traffic nightly as needed, from 8:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16 for geotechnical boring operations.
• Eastbound SW 10^th Street at S.R. 9/I-95 will have one outside lane closed to traffic nightly as needed, from 8:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 17 for geotechnical boring operations.
• Eastbound SW 10^th Street at SW Natura Boulevard will have one outside lane closed to traffic nightly as needed, from 8:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18 for geotechnical boring operations.
• Westbound SW 10^th Street at SW Natura Boulevard will have one outside lane closed to traffic nightly as needed, from 8:30 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18 for geotechnical boring operations.
• Northbound SW Natura Boulevard/FAU Research Park Boulevard at SW 10^th Street will have one outside lane closed to traffic from 8:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Wednesday, Aug. 19, for geotechnical boring operations.

• Northbound S.R. 9/I-95 will have the two outside general-purpose lanes closed, between north of S.R. 834/Sample Road and SW 10^th Street, from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday, Aug. 23, through Thursday, Sept. 3, for overhead bridge demolition operations.
• Southbound S.R. 9/I-95 will have the two outside general-purpose lanes closed, between north of SW 10^th Street and S.R. 834/Sample Road, from 9 p.m. until 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, beginning Sunday, Aug. 23, through Thursday, Sept. 3, for overhead bridge demolition operations.

Advanced Notice of SW 10th Street & Arterial Traffic Impacts:

• Westbound SW 10^th Street from S.R. 845/Powerline Road to SW 30^th Avenue will have two lanes closed to traffic from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 24, and Tuesday, Aug. 25, for geotechnical boring operations.
• Eastbound and westbound SW 10^th Street at S.R. 845/Powerline Road will have two left turn lanes closed to traffic from 8:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, and Thursday, Aug. 27, for geotechnical boring operations.
