NW/NE 48th Street Bridge Weekly Update Week of Sept. 21-Sept. 28, 2026

Early Construction Work
NW 48th Street Bridge
  • Crews are preparing the equipment and materials needed to begin installing the new piles, which will support the future bridge. The crane has been assembled and is ready to begin drilling once the equipment needed to guide the work is in place. Test pile work is expected to begin by Sept. 23. Crews will work Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and, if needed, Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • In the median, crews are digging around existing piles that are in the way of the future bridge foundations so they can be removed. Once the piles are removed, crews will install a temporary wall to help support the area during construction. This work is expected to take approximately two weeks.
  • Crews are backfilling the embankment on NW/NE 48th Street, west side of S.R. 9/I-95. Crews are also forming the gravity wall after completing the foundation preparation.
  • Crews completed demolition of the existing bridge foundations on the west side. Foundation demolition will continue within the S.R. 9/I-95 median and along the west side.
